SELECTABLE
CALIBRATION FEATURE
Calibration is a very important
to the accuracy of any balance. Just as a musician must
have one true tone to tune his instrument, a balance needs
a true weight to tune itself. Calibration is done by
giving a base point (ZERO)
and establishing what is the full capacity (SPAN)
weight. Since SPAN
is normally the balance's maximum capacity, the balance now
has two precise extreme points: zero and full scale.
The balance can now accurately calculate all amounts in between
the base point (ZERO)
and full capacity (SPAN.)
A&D balances offer a selectable
calibration feature for those people wishing not to calibrate
the balance at the full designed weighing capacity.
Calibrating a balance closer to the user's actual maximum
weighing capacity will offer a more accurate calibration.
For example, an individual may purchase the A&D
EK-6000i which offers the ability to weigh up to 6000g
with 0.1g readability. Instead the user only plans on
weighing up to 4800 grams. The EK-6000i offers the ability
to calibrate the scale at 4 programmed capacities - 3000g,
4000g, 5000g or 6000g. Therefore, to improve even greater
accurate the user would calibrate the EK-6000i with a 5000
gram calibration mass.
Balances are influenced by
changes in seasonal
temperature, humidity, barometric pressure and the gravitational
acceleration (the position of your
location related to magnetic north) for the location
at which the precision weighing instrument is being used.
It is necessary to calibrate the balance when it is being
installed for the first time and after any changes of locations.
It is also recommended that a balance be calibrated regularly
in order to obtain the most precision. Most GLP/GMP
and Quality Assurance Directives for a ISO
manufacturing environment require in their procedure a daily
calibration. Also, in critical weighing applications
such as formulation of inks, paints and adhesive a daily calibration
is a must.
Precision Weighing Balances
highly recommends you consider purchasing the calibration
mass at the same time you place your order for your balance.
It will only be a matter of time before you are calling for
the calibration mass to be delivered "yesterday".
The calibration mass will also enable you to perform all calibrations
within your organization and eliminate in most situations
the additional expense of calling a calibration service company
in.
A&D
designed the GF, GR, HR, GX,
HF, HFG, HP,
EKi - Series with the user in mind
making full digital calibration a cinch. You can also
change the calibration mass value for calibrating your A&D
balance to several programmed mass values to meet your weighing
needs. To enter the calibration mass value use the following
steps:
- Press and hold the "RE-ZERO"
key to enter the calibration mode.
- Release the "RE-ZERO"
key when the balance displays either "CAL or CAL 0".
- Press the "MODE"
key to change the calibration mass value
- Enter the calibration mass
value using the following keys: "MODE" key is
used to move digit to enter a number; "RE-ZERO"
key is used to change a number. Verify that there
is nothing on the weighing pan.
- Press the "RE-ZERO"
key. The balance measures the zero-point.
